Holiday16: Crabby Cheesemas Melts

Many people think of turkey, roast beef and ham as holiday staples. But growing up in a coastal town, our family has always added seafood to our holiday menu. On Christmas day, my mother would always have her traditional crab dip & chips and plenty of seafood sandwiches out for snacking while we all helped in the kitchen preparing the big dinner. My Crabby Cheesemas Melts, smothered with Rumiano Cheddar and Jalapeno Pepper Jack, have become a tradition in my family for our holidays. The addition of red bell peppers, green onions and parsley make them look so festive on the holiday table.

Holiday16: Festive Fireside Salad

I am inspired by what is in my garden to develop recipes. Seasonal kale, beets and apples were the ingredients that formed the foundation of this salad. I wanted to show off holiday colors but I needed a spicy tangy topping/dressing to enliven this dish. Rumiano Sharp Cheddar was the key to this gremolata style topping. The result is a delicious nutritious salad perfect for any holiday occasion.

Holiday16: Milky Creamy Mac and Cheese Pie

Mac and cheese cooked with 3 kinds of cheese and eva milk in a crispy panko breadcrumbs pie crust. Top with crispy bacon. I make mac and cheese for my family holiday party almost every year. This is the most popular one I have made among my family. Instead of using panko for topping, I made a pie crust adding parmesan cheese, As being Japanese, I love to cook with panko and this is one of my favorite too. Fun to eat and creamy cheese mac and cheese in crispy cheesy pie crust, who would not want that?

Holiday16: Patty Melt Party Sliders

I look so forward to the annual Christmas Eve party at my in-laws every year because it's a celebration of family and all that we have to be thankful for. Instead of a formal dinner, we put out a spread of festive finger foods so we can mingle over them throughout the night, talking, laughing, and sharing stories as we eat. I like to bring something cheesy and savory to go along with all of the sweets being served. I've brought these delicious sliders for several years now and I'm pretty sure there'd be mutiny if I didn't! They have all the traditional flavors of a patty melt, but are easily made in large quantities and transport like a dream. They're popular with the kids too because they're easily held in little hands.

Holiday16: Savory Pumpkin Pie with Sage Crust and Goat Cheese Mousse

Baking is the best part of the holidays in my house. My mom and I have been baking together since I was able to stand in the kitchen. We love making the same classic recipes that have been passed down through the years, but also love trying new things. This year for thanksgiving we thought of making a savory pumpkin pie, but upon many hours of internet searching we discovered it didn't exist! So we decided to put our heads, and years of holiday baking know how, together to create this savory pumpkin pie! It only took a few tries, but it was a hit this year at our thanksgiving! I am very thankful for all the wonderful time I spend creating, learning, burning pies, and laughing with my sweet mother!
